Our coffee is sourced directly from farmers and cooperatives across Uganda, one of the world’s leading producers of high-quality green coffee. At Green Coffee Africa, we focus on supplying export-ready coffee to B2B buyers across the United Kingdom and Europe, combining direct sourcing with practical logistics and reliable delivery. Our role is to simplify coffee sourcing while providing consistent access to quality coffee at origin.
Our sourcing network spans key coffee-growing regions including the Rwenzori Mountains in Western Uganda and Mount Elgon in the East. While Mount Elgon is well established, Western Uganda offers strong potential for scalable and high-quality production. By working closely with farmers in both regions, we ensure a balanced supply of both Arabica and Robusta coffee suitable for different buyer requirements.
All coffee is carefully handled from harvest to export. Ripe cherries are selectively handpicked, processed using washed, natural, or semi-washed methods, and sun-dried before grading. This process ensures stable moisture levels, clean cup profiles, and consistency across shipments, allowing buyers to source with confidence.
Arabica Coffee
Uganda Arabica is grown in high-altitude environments where cooler temperatures allow slower maturation of coffee cherries. This results in more complex flavour development and improved cup quality. These coffees are primarily cultivated by smallholder farmers and processed using traditional methods adapted to local conditions.
AA Arabica
AA Arabica represents the highest grade based on bean size and quality, with the majority of beans above screen 17. It is grown in regions such as the Rwenzori Mountains and Mount Elgon and processed using washed methods with controlled fermentation and drying. The cup profile is defined by bright acidity, floral aromatics, and a structured body, with flavour notes of blackcurrant, red berries, and a clean, sweet finish. This coffee is well suited for specialty roasters looking for clarity, origin character, and consistency.
AB Arabica
AB Arabica offers slightly smaller beans while maintaining reliable quality and yield. It is widely cultivated across Uganda and processed using similar washed techniques. The flavour profile is more balanced and approachable, with medium acidity and notes of chocolate, caramel, and nuts. This makes it a practical choice for blending and commercial roasting where both quality and volume are important.
WUGAR (Semi-Washed Arabica)
WUGAR is a semi-washed processing method commonly used by smallholder farmers with limited infrastructure. In this method, cherries are pulped and dried with some mucilage retained, before being sorted and milled. The result is a coffee that combines clarity with natural sweetness, offering a clean cup with light fruit notes and a smooth body. WUGAR is increasingly popular among buyers seeking distinctive processing styles at scale.
Robusta Coffee
Uganda is one of the largest producers of Robusta coffee globally, and Robusta remains a key component in espresso blends and commercial coffee production. It is valued for its strong body, low acidity, and ability to add depth and crema to blends.
Screen 12 Robusta
Screen 12 Robusta consists of smaller beans that provide a strong, full-bodied cup with low acidity. The flavour profile includes dark chocolate and earthy notes, making it suitable for commercial blends where consistency and cost control are essential.
Screen 15 Robusta
Screen 15 offers a more balanced profile with medium intensity. It delivers notes of chocolate, caramel, and mild spice, with a fuller body and improved smoothness. This grade is often selected by buyers seeking a balance between price and cup quality.
Screen 18 Robusta
Screen 18 represents the highest Robusta grade, with larger beans and improved consistency. It provides a stronger body, smoother finish, and flavour notes of cocoa and spice, making it suitable for higher-quality blends and buyers looking for premium Robusta supply.
